Brisbane Employment & Personal Injury Lawyers

Meet Misty Barsby,

She approaches every matter strategically, ensuring no aspect of a client’s case is overlooked.

A woman with blonde hair smiling, dressed in cream-colored blouse and trousers, stands in a stylish living room.

Misty Barsby

Lawyer. LLB (USQ), GDLP (COL), (QLDSC).

Misty Barsby brings a depth of life experience to the practice of law that allows her to connect with clients on a genuinely human level. Before becoming a lawyer, she built a career as an early childhood educator while raising her two children. Her decision to enter the legal profession came later in life, following the challenges and uncertainty of the pandemic. Driven by a strong sense of fairness and a desire to advocate for others, she returned to university and completed her law degree.

That journey has shaped the lawyer she is today.

Misty understands that behind every legal matter is a person whose life has been disrupted. Whether it's a worker injured on the job, someone experiencing workplace bullying or sexual harassment, or an employee facing uncertainty about their future, she appreciates that legal problems rarely exist in isolation. They affect families, livelihoods, confidence and wellbeing.

Practising in personal injury and employment law, Misty has developed a particular interest in complex workers' compensation matters, especially claims involving psychological injuries, workplace bullying and sexual harassment.

Clients value Misty's ability to listen. She takes the time to understand not only the legal issues at hand, but also the personal circumstances that sit behind them. Her advice is practical, considered and focused on helping clients move forward with confidence.

For Misty, effective advocacy begins with understanding.

She believes people deserve to be heard, respected and supported, and she works tirelessly to help her clients achieve outcomes that protect their rights and their future.

“Fight for the things that you care about, but do it in a way that will lead others to join you.”

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg (RBG)

That philosophy resonates strongly with the way Misty practises law: with determination, preparation, compassion and an unwavering commitment to justice.

How Misty works

Clear.

Calm.

Thorough.

Misty's approach is to make sure every client feels heard before anything else happens. She takes the time to understand not just the legal issue but the full picture: what happened, how it affected you, and what a good outcome actually looks like for your life.

Her attention to detail is what changes outcomes: the piece of evidence that matters, the inconsistency in the employer's position and the part of the policy definition that everyone else missed.

Behind every case is a human story. Misty makes sure that story is told properly.
